Iquo B Essien

Iquo is a writer, director and consultant with 15+ years of global experience.

With a Bachelor’s degree from Stanford, she began her career at a strategic consulting firm helping influential global clients—such as the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Global Health Program—mobilize support for critical health issues among policymakers, the media, and the public.

Driven to combine her passion for social change and the arts, she received her MFA in Film from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she launched her first fundraising campaign—raising $15,000 in 4 weeks for her film. She later parlayed her 20-year work experience into a consulting career advising diverse for-profit and nonprofit organizations in the food justice, ed tech, climate change, film, e-grocery, and wellness spaces, among others. She created her Crowdfund Your Dream course & group coaching program to teach women & BIPOC founders how to raise up to $500K—without grants or venture capital—by leaning into their founder stories, their culture factor, and the communities their businesses serve. She serves founders through her course, 1-on-1 consultation, and in partnership with diverse organizations such as the Tory Burch Foundation, Brooklyn Arts Council, and Stanford National Black Alumni Association.
